Wednesday Wants - Fall 2015 Skirt Trends

fashion-trends-fall-winter-skirts-suede

fashion-trend-skirts-button-front

It's not every season in fashion that we have so many trends for just one particular clothing item. This fall is the exception to that. There are a number of trends for Fall/Winter 2015 for skirts. I picked the above 9 skirts as they are my favourites that match this season's trends. The biggest trends for skirts this season- and styles you should definitely try out - are:

1. Suede
2. Faux Leather
3. Laser Cut Detailing
4. Exposed Zippers
5. Button Fronts

I can't believe tomorrow is already October! I could not be more excited- October is definitely my favourite month. Tonight I plan on making an "October To Do List" (I am so type A it is scary haha). There are so many fun things to do that I want to make sure I don't forget anything! So far at the top of my list are going apple picking with my goddaughters, baking apple and pumpkin pies, and celebrating two of my closest friends birthdays.
Have a great day everyone and I hope to see you back here on Friday! In the meantime, be sure to follow along on- instagram // pinterest // facebook

Fall Print Mixing - Plaid and Stripes

Blanket Scarf: Dynamite c/o
Striped Turtleneck: Old Navy
Denim: Old. Similar: here & here
Flats: Old. Similar: herehere

Plaid & stripes are consistently popular in fall fashion. One thing I have received a number of emails about is how to "pattern mix" these two fall trends. So, today I decided to show you three outfits that mix plaid and stripes. This first outfit (above) has my absolute favourite new scarf. With this look I am sticking with the same color scheme in the plaid and stripes (red, white, black) to keep the patterns from looking overwhelming. The second outfit (below) shows a great way to incorporate stripes (okay, so technically it's "windowpane" but you get the point) other than via a striped shirt.

Infinity Scarf: Aldo
Pants: Old. Similar: here here
Pumps: Nine West

Finally, this last outfit shows one of my favourite ways to wear blanket scarves- belted over a dress!

what-to-wear-to-work-fall-2015

My obsession with blush and rose gold has clearly carried into the fall. How stunning is that necklace?! Unfortunately that can't be ordered from Canada so I am going to have to put that on my "next time I'm in the states" wishlist!

It's been a busy work week so far, and I am really excited to be heading to a dance class tonight after work. I have been slacking (hard) on my workouts the past 2 months and as well have been missing the "therapy" that dance class brings me! Tonight should be a much needed physical and mental refresh! Anyone have any tips on staying workout motivated throughout the fall; please share 'em with me!!!

See you back here on Friday; in the meantime, have a great week!

So. Many. Lawyers.

fashion-blogger-collaboration-professional-outfits

One of my favorite parts of this blogging adventure I've been on for the past year has been getting to know fellow bloggers - especially fellow lawyer bloggers. Tif was one of the first bloggers I ever connected with and it was SO much fun to discuss (in addition to our love of Kendra Scott & Lilly Pulitzer) the differences between being a lawyer in Canada and the US. This certainly wasn't something I expected to have emerge from this blogging adventure, but I am so grateful to have made so many friends and fashionista-colleagues!

Today we wanted to link up and show you "lawyer style" and our five different takes on what that means. You should definitely check out all of these lovely ladies blogs to see more of their outfit pics as well as to learn more about their awesome selves! Direct links to their blogs are at the end of this post. For now though... let's get you to my outfit pics!

Faux leather accents are a huge trend this fall and I could not be more excited about that. For the past few years I have been incorporating faux leather accents into my work wardrobe. I love how - when used in moderation - it looks professional but tough. Work outfits can really affect your mood/ how you take on the day and I find that faux leather gives me a huge confidence boost!

I also love adding touches of other fall trends to my daily work outfits - which is why emerald, burgundy & leopard print all make appearances in this work look. Do you try to incorporate fall trends into your work looks? What are your favourite looks for work?

For anyone stopping by from the other lawyers blogs- HI!! Thanks for stopping by! I love to get to know new readers so feel free to introduce yourself in the comments below! Follow me on bloglovin to keep up with my posts.

Now - to get to my fashionable lawyer friends! Go check out their pages and show em some love! From L to R right from the above outfits:

Brittany @ The Lady Lawyer - I love the peplum detail on her jacket
Nina @ The Law of Fashion - that skirt! She shares my love of faux leather
Tif @ Bright on a Budget - so obsessed with the blush on blush
Brittany @ Lawyer Lookbook - she has the most amazing hair, doesn't she?!

Fri-yay! It's finally here! My-oh-my that was a long week. I am so excited for the weekend. Tonight I am having a couple colleagues over for drinks and then plan to spend the rest of the weekend relaxing.

This has very quickly become my favourite weekend outfit. I have been showing so many office wear posts lately that I wanted to change it up and show a standard weekend look for me. Faux leather leggings and a tunic always feel put together but so comfortable! I am in love with this Lush tunic! It comes in so many colors (I also have this one) - but heads up, the V does cut really low (just so you are prepared!)

Do you guys have "go to" weekend outfits? What do you wear most on the weekends? (...Tell me someone is with me on this leggings and a tunic trend! haha) Have a great weekend everyone!

Ps. my lovely friend Jeanette took this photos for me! If you are in the Vancouver area and are looking for a photographer for fashion photos, headshots, a wedding, engagement photos - you should check her out! Her work is so versatile (and lovely!) and she is the sweetest human. Her website is here.

Wednesday Wants

sweaters-and-dresses-for-fall

fashion-trends-fall-2015

Happy Wednesday everyone! It has been a crazy busy week here in Vancouver. I hope you are all settling into a fall rhythm! If, like me, you're in need of retail therapy but haven't had time to shop, I present this week's wants! haha. There are a lot of great items this week - from the Jacquard Layered Dress which I need to get for the office, to the long wear foundation which I've recently been told has great coverage and really does last all day - I am definitely saving up to shop some of these items.

See you guys back here on Friday for a great casual outfit post. You'll get to see what I pretty much live in when I'm not in business casual attire! In the meantime, be sure to  follow along on instagram and facebook.

Essentials for a Business/Professional Wardrobe

how-to-dress-for-office

must-have-clothes-for-work
One of the questions I get asked the most is what are the essential items for your work wardrobe. Today, I wanted to share with you what I believe are the bare bones essentials for a professional/office wardrobe and then - most importantly - give you some reviews and links to my tried and true, most favourite items. As you can see from the above photos there are 8 items I consider essential. Let's tackle each one in turn:
best-office-wear-women
**TOP PICK: Banana Republic "Sloan" Pants**
See My Outfit post here

Thankfully, gone are the days of ill-fitted, shapeless suit pants for women. The world of corporate fashion for women has come leaps and bounds in the last decade and there are now so many great pieces to choose from. My #1 office essential is a great pair of straight leg or skinny black pants. They are the base off which to build your office wardrobe!
My top pick black pants are above. For other great options see here. I especially love these Elizabeth & James pants.

My second essential is a fitted black blazer. A well fit blazer can make all the difference to your office wardrobe. My personal preference is a two button blazer, but experiment with one or three button to see what shape fits best on your body. For great blazer options see here

**TOP PICK: Splurge: Saint Laurent Great Deal: Thalia**
My outfit post here

In addition to a black blazer, an essential is a fun blazer - something in a great color or with a unique shape. This is a great way to add some personality into your office wear. A selection of great blazers can be found: here. At under $60 I am swooning over this pale pinstripe one.

**TOP PICK: J Crew Factory**

Every office wardrobe needs one great sheath dress. It's a versatile piece as it can be worn with a cardigan or a blazer, and you can add different accessories such as coloured tights or a neck scarf to really change up the look. See my favourite sheath dresses currently available in the widget below!

A great pencil skirt is not always easy to find - it's hard to get a good fit (no gaping, not too tight) as well as a good material. The Ann Taylor Ponte skirt is by FAR the best I have found. The thick stretch material flatters every body and hugs whatever your shape is without being skin tight. For other great pencil skirts check out these

A white button up is a classic item that everyone should own. Personally, being the busy woman that I am, I live in non-iron ones. There are a number of great non-iron basic blouses available right now - you can see my top picks in the widget below.

If you follow along with LegalLee Blonde regularly, you've heard me talk time and again about the importance of day-to-night clothes. It is so valuable in today's busy world to wear something to work that you can easily transition to your after work plans. A great top that looks professional under a blazer, but fun without one is key. There are many shirts that work for this task - a split back hem shirt, a shirt with lace or leather sleeves, or really an shirt that you find fun! My top picks for day-to-night shirts are in the widget below. AND all are under $50!

best-work-heels
**TOP PICK: Splurge: LK Bennett "Samira" Pump
Great Deal: Michael Kors Flex Pump**
My outfit post here

And last but not least - Comfortable heels!! Believe it or not it IS possible to find heels that you can survive the entire day in. My two favourite picks are listed above. For other great heels check out these.

Leopard print is a fall staple; but I like introducing it into my late summer wardrobe as well, combined with cream. A bow blouse is also a perfect work top!

I hope you all have an excellent weekend ahead of you! I don't have too much planned yet, but the weather is supposed to get warm again so I am planning on spending at least a couple hours down at the beach!! See you all back here on Monday with an exciting office fashion related post that I cannot wait to share with you!
